Mild Autism Spectrum Disorder

Previously known as Asperger’s Syndrome, mild Autism Spectrum Disorder is considered the highest-functioning form of autism.

As self-awareness can be obscured by the disorder itself, people with mild ASD may not immediately realize how they process life differently than a neurotypical person does. However, those who know them best will report that they may struggle with day to day things, such as communication, social interactions, behavior and learning. Repetitive interests or activities are often present. Individuals typically have higher intellectual abilities; however, this does not transfer well into consistent, functional independence.
